Plantation Campaign Monitoring System: A Mobile App to Monitor Planting Progress in Himachal Pradesh
The Plantation Campaign Monitoring System (PCMS) is a mobile app developed by the HP Forest Department to monitor the progress of a tree planting campaign during the yearMonsoon in Himachal Pradesh. The campaign will take place on 12th, 13th, and 14th July 2018, in nearly 600 selected sites throughout the state, involving various government departments, local communities, NGOs, and school children. The PCMS app is available for free on the Google Play store and can be downloaded by anyone interested in monitoring the campaign's progress.
The app will track the planting of various species of trees in forest, government, and community lands using data entered by the person in charge of each site. The data includes the specific location, the type of tree planted, and a photograph of the site. The cumulative progress of the campaign can be monitored in real-time by higher authorities and the public through the Plantation Campaign Monitoring Report System, also available for free on the Google Play store. The app aims to encourage more people to participate in the campaign and motivate them to plant more trees in their vicinity.
